Cooling Station and Heat Related Safety Tips

  1. Lawrence Township Senior Center – 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today, tomorrow, and Thursday (with the potential to extend operations through Friday should demand warrant).
  2. Lawrence Township Police Headquarters Lobby – Open 24 hours a day throughout the duration of the heat wave.
  3. Mercer County Library – During its regular operating hours.

If demand exceeds the capacity of these locations, the Slackwood Fire Company will be opened as an overflow Cooling Station.


IMPORTANT: A cooling station is a designated location that provides temporary relief from oppressive heat.  It is not intended as a shelter or a location that provides food and entertainment.  There will be a water source.

Municipal Offices Closed

Friday, July 3rd

All Lawrence Township Municipal Offices will be closed in observance of Independence Day.


Trash will be collected on Friday, July 3rd. Trash will not be collected on Saturday, July 4th as noted on the Township Calendar.

Township Authorizes Request for Proposals (RFP) for Lease of the Lawrence Neighborhood Center

Lawrence Township Council passed Resolution 217-26 at the meeting held on June 16th, authorizing issuance of RFP for the lease of the Lawrence Neighborhood Center located on Eggert Crossing Road.

July 21 - Council Meeting Notice

The Lawrence Township Council will consider whether the property at 3641 Lawrence Road should be designated as an Area in Need of Redevelopment at its July 21st meeting. The meeting will be held at 6:00pm at the Lawrence Township Municipal Building, and residents are welcome to attend.

Ramp Closure

I-295 southbound Exit 69B to Route 206 southbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured beginning June 4, 2026 and continuing through August as a noise barrier installation project advances in Lawrence, Mercer County. In addition, the right lane on I-295 southbound is scheduled to be closed just before Exit 69B to install construction barrier and close the ramp.

Dog Licensing

Don’t forget to license your dog!

Animal Control is contacting more than 500 dog owners with delinquent licenses. Beginning June, summonses may be issued for unlicensed dogs.

A $9 late fee is currently in effect, and rabies vaccinations must be valid through November 2026.

For questions about your application or your dog’s rabies expiration, please contact the Clerk’s Office.

Mortgage Assistance

The Emergency Rescue Mortgage Assistance (ERMA) program provides financial assistance to eligible homeowners who have experienced a significant decrease in income or increase in expenses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.


To qualify for assistance, a homeowner must:

• Own and occupy an eligible one to four-unit primary residence.

• Have experienced a COVID-19 related financial hardship, and have been unable to remain current on mortgage payments.

• Meet household income limits.

• Have been current on mortgage and property taxes as of January 2020.

Medi-Cool Program

With funding from Mercer County Department of Human Services Office on Aging, Rise, A Community Service Partnership, will provide 5,000 BTU Air Conditioning Units for Mercer County low-income seniors and/or adults who have a disability.
