Coyote Safety Alert

There have been reports of coyote sightings around the township. Please note: for any coyote or fox concerns, contact NJ DEP at 877-WARN-DEP (877-927-6337) - not Animal Control. Seeing coyotes and foxes in the area, especially this time of year, is normal behavior.

Safety reminders:

- Do not approach, confront, or attempt to photograph wildlife.

- Do not feed coyotes or foxes under any circumstances.

- Give wildlife plenty of space - they will usually move along on their own.

Contact NJ DEP if an animal appears sick, injured, aggressive, or will not leave an area after an extended period.

Officer Spotlight

Chief Kevin Reading would like to introduce Officer Anthony DiTorrice badge #280. Anthony recently graduated from the Cape May County Police Academy on January 9, 2026. Anthony is from Montgomery Township, New Jersey and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Law and Justice from Rowan University, where he also played college football. After graduating, he entered the Cape May County Police Academy through the alternate route program and was hired by Lawrence Township Police Department while still in the academy. When asked why he chose a career in law enforcement, Anthony shared that his inspiration came from his great-grandfather, who served as a police officer in Reading, Pennsylvania. Hearing stories about his great-grandfather sparked his interest in the profession at an early age. So far, Anthony says his favorite part of the job has been the police academy, as it brought him one step closer to achieving his goal of having a career in law enforcement. Looking ahead, he hopes to continue growing through training and experience, with aspirations of becoming a Sergeant in the future.
